The UK Community Food Sector: Towards Sustainability through Collective Action and Social Enterprise
CFINE has been short leeted in the UK Government’s Business Innovation and Skills Department and Cooperatives UK ‘Buy Better Together’ challenge – one of 7 leeted from 120 and the only Scottish finalist. CFINE has been short leeted because of its commitment to taking forward ‘local produce procurement and collective purchasing’ with the community food sector in Scotland and, it is anticipated, England and Wales.
To promote and develop this initiative, CFINE secured 3 years investment through Esmee Fairbairn Foundation including sponsorship of a UK conference, ‘The UK Community Food Sector: Towards Sustainability through Collective Action and Social Enterprise’ at which, amongst others, Richard Lochhead, MSP and Scottish Government Cabinet Secretary for Rural affairs and the Environment and Ms. Jenny Jones, Green Party Member of the London Assembly are speaking.
