The SENs: Friday 8th November 2013

The SE Conference and Ceilidh takes place next Thurs/Friday (14th/15th). Around 160 delegates have now signed up – see list. A regular feature is the Dragons’ Den. This year’s prizes include – £5k from the Dragons; 2 days consultancy from Rocket Science; One-to-one coaching from the Social Enterprise Academy; and the Audience Prize. Over the last couple of years, we have ‘crowdfunded’ the Audience Prize – both times collecting over £1,000. We are planning the same again this year – but are keen to get ‘pledges’ in before the event. To make a contribution in advance – £5, £10 or more if you can manage – here’s the link the Paypal page. See full Conference programme. If you use social media please use / follow the hashtag #socent13 on Twitter for tweets related to the conference. Our usernames are @thescotsens and @senscot. Social Enterprise Scotland (SES) held its big jamboree at the Parliament on Wednesday evening – with John Swinney presenting the SE Awards Scotland for 2013. We listed the winners the other week but here they are again. Once again, congratulations to all. The event remains one of the mainstays of our SE calendar in Scotland – with around 250 folk attending. See delegate list. The deadline for Enterprise Ready Fund Category 3 applications is 2nd December. The fund has up to £1million to support capital, marketing or training costs directly linked to trading or income-generating activities. SEN members looking for a bit of guidance with the application can attend one of three sessions being run in Glasgow on 18th Nov at IET Glasgow: Teacher Building, 14 St Enoch Square, Glasgow.  See more. We try to feature the various SEN Newsletters that are now available – both to showcase the work of the SENs and their members and also to share this info throughout the wider SEN network. This week, Glasgow SEN has produced its latest monthly edition. It includes a good blog from Elizabeth McKenna (GSEN Co-ordinator) on her recent visit to Calgary for the SE World Forum.
