Next Wednesday, 10th December, Glasgow SEN is hosting Glasgow’s first Social Enterprise Trade Show at WASPs in The Briggait. The Trade Show is aimed at businesses and the general public and is an opportunity to come and see the wide range of products and services available from social enterprises in the city. As well as a range of exhibitors, the programme for the day is packed with speakers, demonstrations and performances. The event will also see GSEN and Glasgow City Marketing Bureau launch the ‘People Make Glasgow Enterprising’ Brand. The full programme for the day is now available. See more.

The Sport SEN supported an event yesterday entitled "Enterprise & Collaboration in Community Sport in Scotland".   Scotland is seen as a pioneer in this area and we shared Sport SEN member stories with attendees from a wide range of backgrounds including visitors from Northern Ireland and Wales. Almost 30% of attendees came from sports governing bodies and local authorities / leisure trusts.   The profile of Sport and Social Enterprise continues to be raised with a recent article in Holyrood magazine, see article (PDF).

Engage Renfrewshire is hosting a ‘Social Enterprise in Renfrewshire’ Event on Thursday, 11th December at the Abercorn Building at the West College Scotland. The programme (PDF) includes a mixture of local and national speakers. There are very few places still available – contact Douglas on 0141 887 7707 to register your interest.

Good luck to David Cook who is moving on from WASPs after 23 years at the helm and is now looking at new challenges. David’s work at WASPs is impressive – one of the largest self- funding social enterprises in Scotland that now supports around 1,000 artists and designers – as well as being the recipient of numerous awards. Thanks to David from us for being a big support when the Cultural SEN got off the ground.  See more.
