Game Changers is a programme that will be facilitated by The Advisory Group aimed at adults with learning disabilities and will be rolled out across Glasgow from June 1st 2020.
The programme aims to:
- Improve access to sporting resources;
- Increase participation in physical activity and enable athletes with disabilities to progress further in their sport of choice.
There are 3 parts to the programme: The Players; The Legends & The Game Changers.
These are adults with learning disabilities who are taking part in sport sessions set up around Glasgow through contacts already in the area.
These are people that have a desire to move into coaching in sport. This is to bridge the gap for people with learning disabilities involved in coaching sport. TAG will work with governing bodies and help people register, participate and pass qualifications in sport.
The Game Changers
These are a group of adults with learning disabilities who want to share their experiences in sport. The Game Changers will design and facilitate a disability awareness training course aimed at mainstream sports clubs and facilities across Glasgow with the aim of making them more inclusive to people with learning disabilities.
The Advisory Group is very open to working with anyone who would like to get involved in the project. They are keen to make Glasgow one of the most inclusive cities in the world.
