Social Enterprise Mapping
BIG Lottery (Scotland)
We have commissioned ekos to map social enterprises and social enterprise activity across all 32 local authority areas. More specifically, we have charged ekos to:
• Agree and use an appropriate methodology to provide a current snapshot of the Scottish social enterprise sector and its contribution to Scotland;
• Build an accurate and definitive database of social enterprises which can be maintained, revised and developed in future years, thereby leaving an important legacy from this project;
• Gather the necessary data to provide a clear profile of the prevalence, scale, characteristics, reach, distribution and financial health of social enterprises in Scotland, thereby providing a baseline from which to track future change; and
• Produce a widely accessible report that presents the key findings of the research, and thereby provides an accurate, coherent and definitive profile of the social enterprise sector and its contribution to Scotland.
The research is scheduled for completion in November and we will make the findings available publicly, including, of course, to those who participate in the study.
Ekos will be in contact with you soon to try to arrange access to any relevant databases that you might hold to help them with their study and we very much hope that you will be happy to collaborate fully with ekos in this respect. In case you have data protection concerns, I can assure you that ekos are bound by data protection regulations and will not use any data you provide for any purpose other than for this research. Data will only be used in aggregate form in the mapping study so no individual enterprise will be identifiable.
As I say, we very much hope that you will be happy to collaborate with us and ekos on what we consider to be an important piece of research not just for the Big Lottery Fund, but for the whole of Scotland.
