SCRT Crowdfunding Information

Dear       xxxxx               ,
Re: Scottish Community Re-Investment Trust (SCRT)

Thank you for your thoughts on the development of SCRT. I am delighted to inform you that the Trust is now incorporated as a SCIO and following two years of planning and research, we are approaching launch.
SCRT: Finance for the third sector

SCRT believes that the third sector has a public benefit role which is informed by different values to commercial enterprise. The sector therefore needs financial products and services that share its principles and operate to serve its mission.

SCRT is a new Scottish venture whose aim is to pool our collective resources to serve the third sector’s own investment needs – a philosophy of mutuality.  It will support the development of a financial infrastructure, products and services consistent with our sector’s mission and energise third sector development and growth.
First products and services

Following a period of development, we are moving forward with a range of third sector-specific financial products and services. These will include:

·         The Anchor account: individual deposit accounts – aggregated by Airdrie Savings Bank into one third sector pool.
·         financial capability and training
·         simple, straightforward, affordable loans as well as Crowdfunding

Invitation to participate
SCRT has received support from the Scottish Government of £35k, and we are now inviting a number of organisations, with an acknowledged leadership role within the sector, to collectively match this figure towards the further development of SCRT. Any contribution you are able to make – of a size appropriate to your organisation – will reflect our sector’s support for this new initiative
Founder benefits

As a contributor to this appeal, you will be recognised as a founding supporter of SCRT. As well as being invited to the launch of SCRT on 10th December 2014, we would also ask you to participate in a ‘network’ that will help steer the development of both SCRT and its new products.

I am attaching a link to an executive summary of the Information Memorandum that was prepared for the Scottish Government to give you more information on the SCRT.
