Scottish Social Enterprise Coalition welcomes new PPCO
Scottish Social Enterprise Coalition
The Scottish Social Enterprise Coalition has appointed Duncan Thorp as its new Parliamentary, Policy and Communications Officer.
The Coalition, which celebrates its 5th anniversary this month, is the collective membership-led policy and campaigning voice in Scotland for social enterprise – businesses with a social or environmental purpose. It now represents over 2,500 members, operating eight different business models across 32 business sectors.
Previously, Thorp was Marketing and Communications Officer for Planning Aid for Scotland (PAS), the charity which helps people to understand, engage with and benefit from the planning system in Scotland.
A graduate of Edinburgh Napier University, he has also worked extensively at the Scottish Parliament, firstly as a media officer for the Lib Dem MSP group and then as a parliamentary aide to two Lib Dem MSPs.
One of Duncan’s key roles will be to liaise with elected members and the wider public sector, to further the perception of social enterprise, which is playing an increasingly strong role in the delivery of public services, and the influence of Government policy.
