Scott to chair St Mirren if fans take control of Paisley club

Gordon Scott will become the first chairman of a fan-controlled St Mirren should a proposed community takeover become a reality, writes Graeme Macpherson.
A Community Interest Company, 10,000 Hours, hopes to buy the 52% shareholding put up for sale by a group of directors using a loan secured from a social enterprise investor, as well as monthly and one-off contributions from fans and other local groups.
They have until Friday to demonstrate they have sufficient interest to make their plans a reality, and if so, Scott will fill the role of chairman of the interim board to ensure the stability of the club through to the first annual meeting in the autumn.
Scott, a former director, will be assisted in the short term by Tony Fitzpatrick, the former club captain and two-time manager who would fill the role of vice-chairman.
