Watch US Grow

Watch US Grow is a registered charity created in 1999, which provides skills to enable people to take part more equally within their wider community. They work with adults with special needs and/or disabilities in their organic garden – providing training for employment for their students who carrying a range of jobs and activities in the garden such as; planting, re-potting plants, attending to our wormeries, working in their polytunnel and selling plants to visitors.

The main aim of Watch US Grow is to build employability skills amongst their students.

They work with adults with special needs as well as working in partnership with local companies. They aim to build confidence and social skills by offering volunteering opportunities, gardening, social enterprise activities, arts and crafts, keep fit classes, social events, and day respite opportunities.

The garden very much belongs to the students and they carry out the majority of the jobs, with some help and guidance from the staff and volunteers. They work hard through rain or shine all year round and are well rewarded when they can take home all the vegetables they have grown in the garden.

Watch US Grow and their students are also very active in the community. They plan and attend lots of plant sales throughout the year at various locations in Cumbernauld, which have proved very successful. These plant sales help to raise funds for Watch Us Grow and allow them to continue doing the work that they do.

In December 2016, Watch US Grow opened a new venture in Falkirk – Baby Steps – which

carries the whole range of baby equipment, from baths to buggies, cots to changing units and everything in between. Baby Steps is a social enterprise – employing adults with disabilities.
