The Clydebank Community Sports Hub (CCSH) is a partnership between Clydebank RFC, Glaschu Gaels GFC and GTF Taekwon-Do Clydebank which aims to support and grow participation in sport among all sections of the local community.
Following a £4m investment, the Hub officially opened its doors late last year and now boasts a full-size, floodlit, all-weather synthetic pitch, two redeveloped grass pitches, and renovated indoor sports and social spaces with room for clubs and community groups.
As well as running rugby and football teams, CCSH also hosts Gaelic football and a range of martial arts teams.
The Sports Hall was upgraded from the existing sports pavilion, and extended to include six team changing rooms, a social space with kitchen and bar and the Dojang – a special space for martial arts.
Established as a SCIO, all revenues generated by CCSH are ploughed back into provide more services for the local community.
The project was funded by West Dunbartonshire Council, Scottish Government, sportscotland, among others, through the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund.
At the heart of CCSH’s activities run three sports development programmes to engage with young people in the local area.
Active Schools is a sportscotland led programme designed to encourage children and young people to get active and stay active.
CCSH’s commitment to its Sports Development programme means that all of the clubs operated within the hub are actively engaged in initiatives to promote wider involvement with their particular sport, especially among young people.
The Hub has grown from the community of Whitecrook and the wider Clydebank area and continues to work closely with local people and groups to develop activities for the benefit of the area through its Community Engagement programme.
