Executive Summary

The Scottish Government is currently developing a draft National Diet & Obesity Strategy to address the challenge of rising obesity levels in Scotland. As obesity in Scotland shows a strong link with inequalities it is unsurprising that this issue is of important to social enterprise.

This briefing paper aims to increase awareness of social enterprise support for this agenda through a range of interventions tackling health inequalities that are related to food access, healthy eating, sport, physical activity and play.  It also aims to highlight other key policy areas the strategy must reflect to achieve real change.
