Raising our Game? – SFHA Community Regeneration and Social Enterprise Conference
Ahead of the May elections, the Scottish Government hurriedly published a regeneration discussion paper called "Building A Sustainable Future". While it was not a formal consultation paper, it outlined the overall direction of Scottish Government intentions on community regeneration in future, but there were few clues about the future direction of Wider Role beyond March 2012. Indications are however that the Scottish Government will be reviewing Wider Role policy over the course of Summer 2011, so now is the perfect time to express what want to see happen and how we want to see it develop from here…
Alongside this discussion paper, we have also seen housing and regeneration funding bearing the brunt of the cuts in the Scottish Budget. All of this is happening at the same time as UK Government budget cuts and large-scale policy changes via the Welfare Reform programme.
What is the future for housing associations in terms of community regeneration? This conference will be the first chance since the Scottish Parliamentary elections in May for housing associations, community organisations and regeneration bodies to come together and discuss the challenges facing the communities we serve, and find innovative and sustainable ways forward.
This event will also see the launch of the SFHA’s research report "Raising The Bar", which has been looking into how we can accelerate social enterprise across the housing association sector. A range of experienced leaders in the sector will discuss how we can move the agenda on together in the current financial, economic and political context.
This conference will be a "must attend" event for anyone interested in tackling poverty and deprivation in Scotland.
The conference will be held on Tuesday 28 June at Stirling Management Centre and delegate fees are £175 per person for SFHA members and £225 for non-members.
