Inclusive new fitness programmes at Edinburgh-based social enterprise

An Edinburgh-based social enterprise has bolstered its list of activities with four new fitness programmes and a number of additional counsellors.

Projekt 42 is a not-for-profit gym and wellness centre in Leith, Edinburgh, focusing on strengthening the connection between mental health and physical fitness.

To change the way people think about mental health, Projekt 42 has a range of activities and fitness programmes designed to create positive mental health outcomes.

Already with an impressive array of options are available, four new classes have been added at the start of 2019:

Youth Fitness – A youth fitness programme aimed at 12-16 year olds providing access to studio based classes Monday – Friday, and training opportunities enabling young people from Leith to work towards fitness industry accredited qualifications. The youth fitness club meets to check-in and create self development plans every Friday 14.00 – 15.00

Seniors Fitness – A strength and balance class aimed at encouraging seniors in leith to gain confidence through fitness. When the weather improves, Projekt 42 will be leading community walking groups with seniors. The Seniors fitness club includes a free gym membership. Seniors Fitness checks in and meets Monday 14.00 – 15.00

TransFitness – Projekt 42’s rainbow lifters club provides two classes, trans-feminine and trans-masculine workouts are available on Sunday and are free to attend.  Trans-feminine classes run 15.00 – 16.00 and trans-masculine 16.30 -17.30. We are the first in the UK to launch trans-fitness gender affirming classes. 

Mind Your Head – Projekt 42 has launched additional counselling hours. Individuals can complete self-referral forms via the website: www.projekt42.co.uk/self-referral
