New members for Grants Committee

New members for Grants Committee

The Scottish Community Foundation is currently seeking to appoint new members to its Grants Committee. The Grants Committee’s role is to direct the Foundation’s grant-making policy and oversee its work with communities as well as to make decisions on grant applications to our open grant programmes. Currently, these programmes make grants of up to £5,000 to constituted not-for-profit groups, although larger grants are made from time to time. During the 2009/10 financial year, the Grants Committee will approve c. 250 grants, distributing c. £1M, and overall the Foundation will distribute c.£3.5M on behalf of a range of donors.

Our intention is to maintain a mixture of skills, experience and representation on the Committee and we are currently particularly keen to receive nominations from potential members with knowledge relating to the following themes:

    * sport
    * arts
    * heritage
    * health
    * education
    * intergenerational programmes
    * social enterprise.

We’d also be happy to receive nominations from people working for local government or statutory agencies and from people living outside the Central Belt of Scotland.

We are asking for expressions of interest in the position to be submitted on the form by 13 November. Committee membership is a voluntary position, though expenses will be paid.
