Social Enterprise Scotland (SES) will be hosting a series of 6 local policy seminars during the coming months. Following a meeting this week, we`ve agreed that the seminars will link in with local SEN meetings, where possible, giving SEN and SES members an opportunity to discuss and explore local policy issues. The events are scheduled to take place in Forth Valley, Argyle and Bute, Moray, Dumfries and Galloway, Caithness and Sutherland and Fife. More details soon. For more, contact

This year’s ‘Fit for Purpose: SE and Health Conference’ is now full. Over 100 delegates have signed up. News of an exciting development in Clackmannanshire offering a short term incubator space for emergent social enterprises. The Hub – a joint venture between Alloa Community Enterprises (ACE) and Clackmannanshire Third Sector Interface (CTSI) – will provide retail, office, and warehouse and meeting space as well as workshop accommodation for start ups, volunteers, businesses and community organisations. Couple of joint SEN events coming up this month. Firstly, Aberdeen SEN is hosting a speed networking event on 13th June, 3-5pm at Inspire.  Aberdeenshire SEN members are also being invited along. It is hoped the event will not only create trading opportunities between the rural and city members but also lead to further partnership working between the respective SENs. For more info`, contact . Closing date for The Melting Pot`s Social Innovation Incubation Award has been extended until Monday 12th June. . Following the success of the ‘Assisted Places; programme in 2010, The Social Innovation Incubator Award will draw on the expertise of private and third sector organisations to help grow and develop start-up and emerging not for profits. Two new funds/awards will be coming on stream – both of interest to SEN members. Firstly, the Scottish Community Foundation will be administering the Santander Social Enterprise Development Awards. See, , Secondly, The Robertson Trust is leading a group of funders from across the UK in launching its `Thinking Differently – Young People and Alcohol` fund. The fund will commit over £1m over 3 years, starting in March 2013. See,

Last year, Entrepreneurial Spark (ES) launched in Glasgow. Led by entrepreneur Jim Duffy, with support from top business figures such as Sir Tom Hunter and Willie Haughey, ES provide free workspace, IT access and mentoring and advice from leading businesses to start-ups (commercial or social enterprise). We hear that they have now opened another facility in Ayrshire. See more,
