Networks1st Update: Friday 4th February 2011

Last week saw the launch of Networks 1st new website – www.se-networks.net – and, to date, the feedback has been very positive. The Intra-Trading section, in particular, has already generated a lot of interest – where SEN members buy services/products from other SEN members. Requests to date include – development of websites; production of leaflets and posters; legal services (property purchase, negotiating SLAs); and marketing services. The theme for this year’s Fit for Purpose is Prevention, Improvement and Innovation – 18th March at The Royal Society in Edinburgh. We’re delighted to announce that Pennie Taylor has accepted our invitation to chair the day’s proceedings. Pennie is a well-known journalist, broadcaster, and NHS communications specialist. Keynote presentations will be from Sue Bruce (CEO, Edinburgh City Council) and Chris Dabbs (Unlimited Potential, Salford). Workshops being delivered on the day will include  sport social enterprises that are delivering health outcomes; and the link between single outcome agreements and health and innovation. Last week, the Ayrshire SEN, in partnership with Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce and SSEC, hosted a Community of Business event in Irvine. Around 100 delegates from both the private and social enterprise sectors attended. There were a number of presentations which included local MP Brian Donohoe formally launch Real Work Skills` new Aspire Business Centre. The Ayrshire SEN is still in its infancy but is already attracting a lot of interest from social enterprises working in Ayrshire. If you are keen to get involved, please contact kim@senscot.net
