On Wednesday evening, ReadyforBusiness partners – Senscot, Social Firms Scotland and CEiS, along with Unity Enterprise, CRNS, DTAS and the Office of the Third Sector attended the Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards in Glasgow, as RfB was shortlisted for the GO Best Supplier Engagement Award. Although we didn’t pick up the award, the RfB Partners were delighted to have been nominated – and there’s always next year! Along with a number of SEN members, Senscot attended the Cornerstone ‘Attracting Social Investment’ conference at the Perth Concert Hall on Thursday. There was great excitement in the hall for this the first social investment event to take place in Scotland. Nigel Kershaw’s Big Invest, look like an organisation worth keeping an eye on (http://www.bigissueinvest.com). One good bit of news on the day was the fact that Social Investment Scotland (SIS) has managed to get £30 million investment out the door, showing the level of demand for their approach to mixing grant and load funding is strong in Scotland. SIS also announced that they have secured a further £2 million from the Cooperative Bank (who are behind the new Social Investment Bank in England), bringing their loan book up to £8 million.
