The RBS SE 100 Index (2012) is now open for applications – closing date is 30th August. The SE 100 list tracks the growth and impact of social enterprises – with prize money of £25,000. Edinburgh SEN, this week, welcomed their new Network Co-ordinator, Lynsay Chalmers. Prior to joining ESEN, Lynsay had spent 9 years with CRNS so brings a wealth of experience to her new position. Just Enterprise – the Scottish Govt Programme providing support to SEs as they seek to devlop and grow – is now in its second year of operation. From information recently garnered, 108 SEN members have been able to access support through the Just Enterprise Programme. That leaves almost 300 who have not. For many, it may not be appropriate but, for others, it is an opportunity to access a range of support that will bring benefit to both to your organisation and, in turn, the services you provide. Aberdeen and Community Food SEN member, CFINE is hosting an event in London in November in partnership with the London-based Community Food Enterprise Ltd. The event is titled, “The UK Community Food Sector: Towards Sustainability through Collective Action and Social Enterprise”, and will focus on collective purchasing arrangements – not only in Scotland but with colleagues in England and Wales. This year, Ignite will be taking place over the weekend 19th-22nd October at the Marine Hotel in North Berwick. The programme will bring together approx 18 social entrepreneurs, giving them the opportunity to work together in identifying their key motivations; clarifying their goals; exploring options; and planning next steps in growing or developing their social enterprise.
