Congratulations to Aberdeen SEN member, Send It, who have celebrated the end of a year of growth. For the financial year to May 2012, turnover grew to £250,000 and many new customers were added to the portfolio during the course of the year – including Aberdeen’s premier print and signage company: Compass Print Holdings Ltd. See,

Sport SEN member, Reach for the Sky (Basketball), strive ever upwards in their mission to use basketball to bring benefits to the lives of disadvantaged young people.  With developments across a number of local authority areas, their impact is far reaching – in South Lanarkshire alone they coached 10,000 youngsters in 2012. As well as supporting older participants to become qualified coaches, offering placements to university students, employing local youngsters as sessional workers and working with established basketball clubs in the West of Scotland, Reach for the Sky continue to increase their social impact and sustainability. This week Senscot attended a meeting in Paisley to explore with local social enterprises any appetite for a Renfrewshire SEN.  The meeting was hosted by Engage Renfrewshire (TSI) and as well as Senscot, Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce was also in attendance. The social enterprises have agreed to have another meeting in early Spring where we will look in more detail at the activity of other local SENs – including existing SEN strategies and work-plans. This is the 4th meeting in recent months Senscot has attended at the request of Third Sector Interfaces (TSIs) and it’s looking likely that there will be at least 3 new SENs established.

Proposals are now being invited for a new £225k fund that will help set up new social enterprise businesses in West Dunbartonshire. The fund, delivered in partnership with Firstport, will invest up to £15,000 in SEs that have the ability to boost the local economy and create sustainable jobs.. See,
