Four weeks till this year’s Ceilidh and our programme is shaping up As well as the usual favourites, we’re also introducing a couple of new features. This include ‘crowd sourcing’ – audience donations to Dragons’ Den (as mentioned last week); ‘Lightening Talks’; and our ‘Mystery Breakfast Club’. Our Vital Stats survey is making progress. This week the results for Coalfields are available To date, 5 SENs have completed the survey – Aberdeen, Dundee, Clacks, Edinburgh and Coalfields – and we expect to finalise stats for the Glasgow SEN within the next week or so. Fife and Dumfries & Galloway SENs will also be completing the survey. Coalfields figures reflect the activity of 6 SEN members and, as with others, show impressive trading percentages. Vital Stats aim to reflect the economic contribution local SENs and their members are making to their local communities. See more .

DGSEN are running a conference on 12th November in Dumfries. The theme will be "Opportunities and Challenges". Speakers and participants include Ed Ferguson, Spruce Carpets, Gerry Higgins, CEiS, SENSCOT, DTAS/Local People Leading, The Social Enterprise Academy and many more. There will be practical workshops, a marketplace and lots of opportunities for networking and learning. To book


EVENT: SAN Conference 2010, Accounting for Change – a new era in social accounting and audit on Friday 3 December at the Castlegate Centre, Melbourne Street, Newcastle upon Tyne.  The new guide will be a roadmap to social accounting and audit, with a focus on helping organizations through the maze of tools and methods which have been and continue to be developed. TRADE FAIR: Social enterprise Trade Fair The Happening taking place at Paisley Town Hall, Abbey Close, Paisley, PA1 1JF Tuesday 16th November 2010 9.30am – 4pm.  For those involved or interested in social enterprise there’s the opportunity to learn something new at a series of workshops, make new contacts or simply relax and socialise with like-minded others while browsing the stalls at the Trade Fair to make a start on your Xmas shopping. Case Study:
Set up in 2006, Dumfries & Galloway Social Enterprise Network covers an extensive region in the South West of Scotland. Due to the large distances involved and the time it takes to travel around the Dumfries & Galloway SEN meets in the Town Hall in Castle Douglas, seen as the most central point for all.
