Networks1st Update: Friday 16th July 2010

Dumfries and Galloway SEN contacted us this week to ask us to highlight the SVA programme ‘Leading in Change’. There are to be 4 residentials across the country to discuss and develop the Business Plans for the Single Interfaces. We know Edinburgh SEN is involved but it’s unclear if any other SENs active in Single Interfaces are. However, it’s good to see that the Social Enterprise Academy has won the contract to deliver these events. There are other opportunities within the SVA Programme for SENs involved in or working towards Single Interface status, Sally Dyson, SVA Programme Manager has provided us with an update on the Programme and will also attend the Network Reps meeting in September. http://www.senscot.net/networks1st/shownotice.php?articleid=247. The first meeting of the Youth SEN- since its launch at S2S – is at 3pm on Thursday, 19th August.  Young people involved with social enterprise are invited to Re-union Canal Boat, Edinburgh.  The meeting will involve a presentation about Re-union by Sam Buamber (one of the co-founders), drinks and a cruise along the canal.  To book, contact karina@senscot.net .  Stay in touch via the Youth SEN Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=124837380860761

Another active week for the Social Enterprise & Sport initiative, not just because of the World Cup, (although well done Spain)! Diane’s been out and about, meeting community sports organisations and governing bodies around the country from Curling to Mountain Biking, as well as enjoying a trip to a virtual social enterprise!  With hard hat and fetching fluorescent jacket, Diane was given the VIP tour of the ‘soon to be’ Inch Park Community Sports Club, one of the new breed of Communty Sports Hubs. With rugby, football and cricket all coming together under one roof to provide communty and club sport opportunities in South Edinburgh, this will be an interesting model to watch.
