Over the month of August, staff/reps from the ‘Just Enterprise’ consortium will attending up to 8 different SEN meetings. The Just Enterprise Consortium supports the enterprising third sector in Scotland. Supported by the Scottish Government, it offers bespoke services in business support, start-up, procurement and learning with a particular focus on social enterprises who show the greatest potential to grow and develop sustainably – this could be in terms of income, employment or contracts secured. Consortium partners include CEiS, HISEZ, Firstport, the Social Enterprise Academy, Forth Sector Development, Community Enterprise Ltd, CEMVO Scotland, Lanarkshire Enterprise Services, ReadyforBusiness and Inspiralba. The Coalfields Regeneration Trust (CRT) is launching a new Coalfield Community Challenge Programme to support people with imaginative and innovative ideas that create jobs and respond to worklessness in Scotland’s coalfield areas. They are looking for 10 would be entrepreneurs, living and working in former coal mining areas, who want to launch their own new social enterprise. The additional £3m made available by Scottish Govt to SIS (Social Investment Scotland) is now in place and applications are invited from next week fro social enterprises looking to expand. See, https://senscot.net/?viewid=11354

Big Date for your diary: Reminder that this year’s Ceilidh (our 7th) will be taking place on 17th/18th November at our usual venue at New Lanark. One important change to note this year, however, is that we will be charging a fee for the first time (£30 per head for SEN members). Booking forms etc will be available shortly

TENDER NOTIFICATION: Fife Council currently owns and operates ten (10) care homes throughout Fife which provide a range of services for adults & older people. These services include residential care, day care and respite care services. Case Study: Broxburn United Sports Club

After 10 long years, August 2010 saw the official opening of Broxburn United Sports Club (BUSC) facility.  BUSC is a coming together of local football clubs; Broxburn Athletic FC, Broxburn Athletic Colts FC, Uphall Diamonds BUFC and Broxburn Athletic Amateurs.  In total the club have 27 teams and of those 24 are youth teams.  The teams have 110 volunteers and 600 player members with almost 1000 people using the facility every week.
