Networks1st Update: 7th December 2007

Chris Rogan (this year`s Dragon`s Den winner at the Ceilidh) writes to say that things are gathering pace in Argyll and Bute. Communities Scotland are looking to support ABSEN in running two events in the New Year – an S2S-style trade fair and a Dragon`s Den. See Yesterday, I attended a planning day for the East Dunbartonshire Network (EDSEN) in Dunblane. Around 12 organisations gathered to consider how EDSEN can maximise benefit for its members. As part of the day, they invited a number of local authority officials along to contribute to the discussion. This included staff from the community development, community planning and procurement departments. Over the next couple of months, Senscot will be looking into what may be the most appropriate legal structure for the Networks. We will explore a few models and – at the next Reps meeting in the New Year – offer options to Networks that they can consider with their members. Health and Care SEN meets next week – Thursday 13th December at 3pm at the Unity Cafe in Albion Street, Trongate in Glasgow.
