Networks1st Update: 4th July 2008

Since April, Senscot has been looking to step up its work in supporting the Networks. This has been helped hugely by the arrival of Anna Roscoe. We are now able to attend more meetings and also to arrange visits to individual social enterprises. Main events for the year are taking shape with the Ceilidh (20th Nov), `Fit for Purpose` (3rd March) and Social Enterprise `Fringe` (4th Sept). Over the summer, we will be exploring ways in which LSENs can link up better with one another and also promote their services. These will involve creating a `Virtual Workspace` and `Social Purchasing Portal` for LSEN members. We`ll be canvasing your views over the summer. Our plans for the Networks Fringe event, co-inciding with the Social Enterprise World Forum in September, are beginning to take shape. We are planning three events. A lunchtime event at the Melting Pot, followed by a late afternoon event in the Grassmarket and culminating in a shindig at the Bongo Club in the evening. More details will be available over the next couple of weeks. The East Dunbartonshire Social Enterprise Network is planning a Speed Networking lunch in October. The event at the Twechar Healthy Living and Community Centre will allow local enterprises to identify possible trading and partnership opportunities with each other.Dates for the DiaryTuesday 15th July – Clackmannanshire SEN, Kilncraigs, Alloa, Time TBCMidlothian SEN, Midlothian Befrienders, 2b Douglas Crescent Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, 2pmThursday 28th August – Edinburgh SEN, Time and Venue TBCGlasgow SEN, 10.30am, Pearce Institute, Govan, Glasgow2nd – 5th September – Social Enterprise World ForumThursday 4th September – Networks Fringe
