Networks1st Update: 24th October 2008

Places at this year’s Social Enterprise Ceilidh are filling up fast, so if you’ve got it in your diary but not booked yet because ‘it’s still ages away’, take a moment now and fill in your booking form or you might miss out. There’s a maximum 120 places at the event, which gathers some of Scotland’s best known social entrepreneurs and welcomes newer faces in a packed programme, including Questions Time, An Audience With .. and of course the Dragon’s Den (which is now full). The Ceilidh is an opportunity to meet social enterprises from across Scotland and celebrate the range of activities going on and do a bit of business as well, all in the amazing setting of New Lanark – itself a social enterprise. https://senscot.net/networks1st/ceilidh08.phpEmma Galloway of Caring Christmas Trees (Edinburgh SEN) – and fidldle player at the Social Enterprise Ceilidh – writes to tell us some excellent news, that after three years of hard work three charities have signed a franchise agreement with Bethany Christian Trust to set up their own Caring Christmas Trees. Kibble’s Accord Hospice, Paisley (http://www.accord.org.uk), ImpactArts’ Fab Pad, Glasgow (http://www.impactarts.co.uk/Templates/employabilityfabpad.htm) and Gowrie Care’s Enabling Fund, Dundee and Perth (http://www.hillcrest.org.uk/gowrie). So if you live in these areas you now know where to buy your tree this year. http://www.senscot.net/view_prof.php?viewid=7607This Christmas, the Scottish Social Enterprise Coalition is setting up a special website to showcase twelve of Scotland’s leading social enterprises (you know 12 days of Christmas – geddit!) on a new web page to be launched on 1st November. They will all be offering a high quality range of affordable gifts, vouchers and services. Pick your Christmas tree from Kibble or a fresh organic cheese basket from the Loch Arthur Creamery, rugs, bags and cushions from Rag Tag `N` Textile direct from Kyle of Lochalsh, a garden bench from the Ecology Centre or a day out in the Highlands at the Badaguish Outdoor Centre to burn off that Christmas pudding! http://www.badaguish.orgDates for Your DiaryDumfries & Galloway SEN, 28th Oct. / East Dunbartonshire SEN, 29th Oct. / Glasgow SEN, 31st October / Social Enterprise Ceilidh, 20-21st November / Health & Community Care SEN, 4 Dechttp://www.senscot.net/networks1st/diary.php
