Networks1st Update: 19th September 2008

This year’s Social Enterprise Ceilidh is open for bookings. Every year over 100 people attend the event at New Lanark, 80% of them active social entrepreneurs. This year we’d like to get applications for the Dragon’s Den event in early, so we can provide the entrants with some pre `Den` training, so if you’ve got a good idea that you’d like a few thousand pounds to get off the ground fill in an application form. Attached are booking forms for Ceilidh, Dragons` Den and Soap Box. Muhammad Yunus is coming to Scotland on 1st December. Prof. Yunus will visit Glasgow Caledonian University where he will deliver the inaugural Magnus Magnusson Lecture at the University’s Carnegie Theatre. Mel Young, founder of the Homeless World Cup, and founder chair of Senscot sends an invite for Network members. If you fancy going, contact karina@senscot.netWith the credit crunch biting harder every day this is a fantastic opportunity to hear about a proposed alternative to the capitalist system that might actually stick. http://www.senscot.net/view_event.php?viewid=7500We’ve been asked by Sandy Watson (Scottish Enterprise) to raise awareness of the new service available for Business Mentoring. The new approach aims to support around 1,200 businesses each year, including social enterprises, and involves a partnership between Scottish Enterprise, the Scottish Chambers of Commerce and Highlands and Islands Enterprise to integrate a Scotland-wide product offering. There are 3 levels of support including on-line; group mentoring meetings and one to one mentoring.
