Networks1st Update: 11th July 2008

Last Friday saw the second of a series of meetings organised by the Glasgow SEN. The re-emergence of the Glasgow SEN has been one of the most significant developments of recent months in terms of Network activity and much of the credit for this is due to Susan Aktemel at Impact Arts who has had to do much of the leg work. Six meetings have been scheduled through until the end of the year and Susan has managed to secure sponsors for the first 3 events. RBS hosted the first meeting, Wylie Bisset (Accountants) were hosts last Friday and the next meeting at the end of August will be courtesy of the Clydesdale Bank. We`ll keep you posted on Glasgow SEN`s progress There is an increasing number of opportunities to inter-trade emerging within the local Networks and between the Networks nationally. Feedback from members shows that organisations are not only beginning to buy their own products and services from each other but also forming partnerships to enable them to deliver larger contracts and bulk buy to benefit from economies of scale. If you have examples of this within your network please let us know; anna@senscot.net. Fife SEN member, BRAG Enterprise, is now offering individuals and organisations the opportunity to access social enterprise training using Individual Learning Accounts (ILA). The Government-backed scheme offers up to £200 towards the cost of the training. Having run Scotland’s only School for Social Entrepreneurs for a number of years, BRAG was also awarded Learndirect’s Learning Centre of the Year in 2007, BRAG`s track record in delivering training programmes is second to none.
