Rosemount Lifelong Learning provides a variety of lifelong learning opportunities and support for the local community in North East Glasgow.
Rosemount Lifelong Learning’s primary aim is to empower people and contribute to regenerating communities in North East Glasgow.
In order to do this, the organisation delivers a range of integrated services in the areas of childcare, parenting, guidance, employability for young parents, support for families affected by addiction and community based adult learning opportunities. Services are primarily provided from two centres in Royston in North East Glasgow with some services delivered on an outreach basis.
The Young Parents Project
Provides specialist support to young parents or young pregnant women to help to remove barriers which prevent them from moving into training, education or employment. The main target group is 16-24 year olds, but this can extend to 26 if they are care leavers.
We work with young parents to assist them to obtain core skills and at the same time support them with practical advice on issues such as childcare, housing, benefits and employability. The overall aim is to give the necessary support and advice during pregnancy and after birth. The work is done on a one-to-one basis with support staff who encourage young parents to participate in group activities which cover areas such as personal development, first aid, health and employability.
The Community Learning Service
Delivers a range of community based adult learning opportunities from our Learning & Events Space in Royston. Learning opportunities include:
• Adult Literacy and Numeracy
• English for Speakers of Other Languages
The Childcare Service
Provides a nursery for parents from the local community. The Childcare service provides structured play activities for children that will allow them to become successful and confident learners while enabling parents to access education and employment.
Family Links Addiction and Parenting Service
This service supports and provides interventions for children and families affected by drugs and alcohol misuse. Family Links works in close partnership with a range of statutory and voluntary services. The service focuses on interventions relating to relationships, confidence building, group work, parenting, education and health which compliments and adds value to specialist substance misuse work.
Work Development Network Coordinator
The Work Development Network Co-Ordinator supports people with severe and enduring mental health problems who wish to move into employment or to sustain an existing job.
Time for a Change Programme (TFAC)
This is a 10 week employability/personal and social development programme that aims to improve the confidence, core skills, financial management, tenancy sustainability and employability of the participants. TFAC assists people to build a personal portfolio, develop skills and increase qualifications.
Learning & Events Space
The Learning & Events Space is available for hire for classes, workshops, private functions without alcohol, training, etc. There are also a number of events held in the space for people in the area.
