We believe that sport changes lives.
Parents want their children to be fit and active during their lifetime. Concerns about health, obesity, crime, community cohesion and national wellbeing have brought sport to the forefront of political debate. We understand that taught well, sport and physical education not only contribute to the health and wellbeing of the local community but also develop qualities of self-esteem, leadership, teamwork, mutual respect, civic pride and both honesty and integrity in those that participate. Sport not only helps build character, it reveals character.
The Aberdeen Gymnastics Trust was formed to develop the sport of gymnastics in the North East of Scotland and contribute to the life of the local community. The Trust supports the development of a number of locally based individuals and gymnastics clubs and seeks to expand the provision of gymnastics in the area, supporting both grass roots development and also high performance gymnastics for individuals who show an aptitude for the sport.
The Trust looks to support where possible, the development of those deployed in the sport of gymnastics, be they coaches, judges or volunteers, to assist in bringing gymnastics to a wider number of participants, whilst encouraging lifelong participation in the sport from cradle to grave.
We aim to become recognised as the leading provider of gymnastics activity in the North East and to be regarded as a high quality organisation which provides significant public benefit to the community at large.
We provide both recreational and competitive gymnastics for boys, girls and adults, catering for grassroots participants attending just for fun, fitness and making new friends, through to performance level gymnasts with a high commitment to the sport, training some 30 plus hours per week and competing at international events.
