British Association of Play Therapists

Full qualifying course approved by the British Association of Play Therapists could start in Glasgow September 2013!

In response to many enquiries, a group of Scottish Play Therapists has been seeking to re-establish a full qualifying course for Play Therapy in Scotland since the closure of the Notre Dame course in 2010.

In partnership with this group, the University of Glamorgan is now exploring the feasibility of offering a full MSc course based in Glasgow, to start in September 2013.  Students would normally be expected to have a professional qualification and / or at least 2 years  experience working with children.  The course would run over 3 years using a block delivery system to enable students from a wide area to attend.  The format would consist of:

Years I & 2:  4 x 3-day weekend teaching blocks plus one residential teaching week
Year 3:  4 x 3-day weekend teaching blocks plus 1 final weekend.

Students would undertake Play Therapy practice placements, clinical supervision and personal therapy in locations suitable to them between teaching blocks in Glasgow.

Student fee would be in the region of £4,200 for the 3 years, i.e. £1,300 per year.  Students would be required to pay for their own personal therapy and clinical supervision, and would be responsible for transport and accommodation costs for the teaching blocks.

The University of Glamorgan now need to have an indication of the number of students who might be interested, in order to be sure they can go ahead with planning the course.  If you MIGHT be interested, please contact , indicating whether we can forward your contact information to the University of Glamorgan who will send you further details.

We hope you will agree that this is a wonderful opportunity!
