The successful applicant will have a key role in delivering this Project: transforming the ex-school building which dates from 1876 into a Community Centre for the local area. Attendance is essential at site meetings and monthly Board Meetings. Working in the office in The Old School, Inverasdale, you will be responsible for planning, delivery and monitoring of the Project, including the financial budget for the Project. You will liaise with partners including Highland Council, other Project funders, and WLET’s architects and will be responsible for submitting capital claims to funders.
Your aptitude, values, and a knowledge of communities in remote rural areas are important to us, as is a flexible approach to the role. Real experience of steering a project through building renovations to successful completion is vital to this role.
You will report directly to the Board of Wester Loch Ewe Trust.
Wester Loch Ewe Trust
Wester Loch Ewe Trust (WLET) was founded in 2015 by members of the community of Naast, Inverasdale and Cove, as a response to the closure of Inverasdale Primary School and to avert potential loss of its buildings as a community space. WLET was constituted as a Scottish Charity and Company Limited by Guarantee in order to be able to bring forward a community right to buy if needed. This was not the case as Highland Council transferred ownership to WLET, completing legal arrangements in late November 2018. The buildings are now known as The Old School, Inverasdale. WLET is engaged in providing facilities and services for local people and visitors to assist regeneration of our area and has obtained grant funding to carry out renovations to the building including provision of a kitchen. The Project Development Manager post is funded by the Big Lottery for 1.5 years.
