Auchinleck Community Development Initiative (ACDI) has been awarded £133,801 from The National Lottery Community Fund to manage and deliver the Auchinleck ConneXions Programme (Connecting People and Places).
The Auchinleck ConneXions Programme will deliver, over a three year period, a community-led engagement and participation project within the former mining community of Auchinleck, with the objective of increasing participation levels in community activities.
Auchinleck ConneXions staff will engage with 270 local residents who are identified as being socially isolated, with the aim of connecting them with a social event, activity, service and/or local interest group.
Project staff will also provide mentoring support to local groups with advice and guidance on fundraising, external funding, awareness, publicity and sustainability.
Councillor Neil McGhee, ACDI Chairperson remarked, “I am thrilled that our former mining community will receive support and an investment package of over £130,000 aimed specifically at our local residents to access new opportunities and services.”
ACDI is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee which was established in 2005 in East Ayrshire. Its aim is to work with the community improving the physical, recreational, and social environment in the village and surrounding settlements for all residents, to create employment, training and volunteering opportunities and to restore a sense of pride in our communities.
