The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) is delighted to announce that with further investment from Scottish Government Round 3 of CATS is now accepting applications.
With an investment of £400,000 for 2019/2020, the Carers Act Transformation Support (CATS) Fund will give third sector organisations, involved in the local implementation of the Carers (Scotland) Act, the opportunity to apply for small grants to improve their capacity to do so.
The main purpose of this Scottish Government short term funding (as described in the Financial Memorandum to the Carers (Scotland) Bill) is to develop local capacity through improvements to systems, processes, technology etc. rather than delivering direct services or support to carers (which is funded locally).
One year on from the introduction of the Act, we are looking to build on previous investments and continue to develop the capacity of third sector organisations who have a role in the local implementation of the Act and have expanded the type of activity CATS will consider funding. As in rounds 1 and 2, CATS round 3 will not fund the delivery of direct services or support to carers, which is funded locally.
Awards of up to £10,000 will be available for single organisation applications. We welcome collaboration between organisations and will consider larger awards where collaborative approaches demonstrate economies of scale, wider sector benefit and innovation. All activities supported by The Carers Act Transformation Support (CATS) Fund must be completed by 31st March 2020
Applications to the fund are now open and eligibility criteria, comprehensive guidance and the online application form can be accessed here The closing date for applications is 5pm on 18th July 2019
