Knockengorroch World Ceilidh

A family-friendly music festival celebrating it’s 20th anniversary this year, Knockengorroch World Ceilidh is situated in it’s own upland glen surrounded by mountain, forest and a river running alongside the site in the stunning Galloway hills of Scotland’s south west.
2018’s festival runs from 24th to 27th May. Organised by Knockengorroch CIC our remit is to bring great music to Galloway and by so doing, support the cultural, economic and social infrastructure of Dumfries & Galloway.
A diverse range of musical genre is presented, from folk music to electronica, world class fusion acts to late night dance music with many ‘world’ music acts appearing this year including Transglobal Underground with original vocalist Natacha Atlas, Ezza playing Saharan blues and les Amazones d’Afrique from West Africa taking up the cause of women’s rights throughout the world.
Seven venues present a wealth of musical and other entertainment,  Acoustic sessions, workshops suitable for the most part for all ages, in arts, craft and environmental subjects such as permaculture, pottery, different dance forms, tribal drumming, stone and wood carving, felt making, Georgian singing to name a few plus a children’s marquee full of creative e learning opportunities, a sauna, free massage, a unique longhouse acoustic venue, real Scottish ales and organic ciders, physical theatre, stand up comedy [this list is not exhaustive] plus fantastic views and an unrivalled festival community spirit are shared by our friendly, appreciative and enthusiastic audience.  We are not a huge event – around 3000 people on site and the feeling is of a big family getting together once a year with people of all ages, from babies to pensioners sharing a unique and joyful experience.
