Crossmyloof Bread Festival : April 21st from 11 – 4pm. The Glad Café are celebrating the life of their local hero Neale Thomson (1807 – 57) who developed the once famous Crossmyloof Bakery on the site of the Glad Cafe. There will be stalls selling a version of the Crossmyloaf, as well as from independent bakers across the city, live music, hot food, walking tours of buildings associated with Neale Thomson, and talks from Andrew Whitley (Bread Matters), Matt Fountain (Freedom Bakery, Catriona Milligan (High Rise Bakers) and more! The day will be rounded off by a concert in the Glad Cafe, featuring Kathryn Joseph, Vinnie Blackwall (Trembling Bells) and Marco Rea (the Wellgreen), Emily Scott and friends (Modern Studies) and Biff Smith and friends (A New International). They will feature songs of protest and hope, tying in with the festival theme of Bread and Roses!
