Competition launches to find new young social entrepreneurs

Live UnLtd and Development Trusts Association Scotland (DTAS) are delighted to announce today the launch of a competition to find and support a new generation of social entrepreneurs living in Development Trust communities in Scotland.

The competition ‘Make It Even Better’ is open to 16-21 year olds who are invited to apply for cash Awards and ongoing support to turn their social enterprise ideas into realities.

Those with a brand new idea to try out could win an Award of £1000 while those who want to grow an existing social enterprise can apply for an Award of £5000. Applications can be made from today via the Live UnLtd website:

Ian Cooke, Director, Development Trusts Association Scotland said: ‘Encouraging communities to become more enterprising and minimising grant dependency is an integral part of the development trust approach. DTAS welcomes this opportunity to encourage and support young people to make their own contribution to the development of enterprising communities.’

Gina Headden, Development Manager for Live UnLtd in Scotland said: ‘We at Live UnLtd are very enthusiastic about this competition.  We look forward to seeing the inventiveness of young people in Development Trust areas in Scotland translated into ideas for social enterprises which benefit both them and their communities.’

The deadline for all applications is 31st May 2013.  Winners will be announced in June.
