‘Can mountain’ response
Because of the late delivery of a new piece of machinery, Recycle Fife had a ‘can mountain’ crisis last week and asked for volunteers. Word went out to Senscot members and other potential volunteers, and Jackie Dunsmuir updates us with good news – though the battle is not won yet:
The last wee while has been really hectic for us, as a result of delays in our new machinery being delivered, we have had to separate tonnes and tonnes of plastic bottles and tin cans by hand. We have a very small but very loyal team who have been working really hard and who have supported us through this difficult time, however, because of the quantities of loads of plastic/cans we recieve we have just not been able to cope. Our sanity( and arms) have been hanging by a thread!
However, thanks to Pat and Colin at Senscot and the Fife Social Enterprise Network, we were able to put out a ‘distress call’ to ask for volunteers to come and help us out for the next couple of weeks until our machinery arrives. Subliminal Directions, Mobus, Brag Enterprises and BCTV all came to the rescue!
We just wanted to say a big thank you to all those who came and got their hands dirty and helped us to get through our mountains of cans and plastic bottles. Unfortunately we are still struggling and will be for another 2 weeks or so, so anyone that wants to help is more than welcome!
We are really lucky to be part of a network and sector that really care about one and another and who are willing to go that extra mile to help.
Once again, a big thank you from all at Recycle Fife.’
