Book demonstrates role of community anchor organisations
New Start Magazine
A new book outlining the important role played by community anchor organisations in building stronger neighbourhoods has been launched.
The publication shows how groups have evolved in recent years and features case studies showing how the most successful anchors have become a voice for local people and provide a platform for community activity.
It also has examples of organisatons that have helped demonstrate how assets like buildings can become a route to sustainability and how they have contributed to wealth creation in their areas.
The book has been put together by the Community Alliance , a partnership of Bassac, Community Matters and the Development Trusts Association in response to increasing recognition by the Cabinet Office and DCLG of the importance of anchor organizations in building more active communities.
Copies of ‘An ever-evolving story: how community anchor organisations are making a difference’ are available free from Janice Leung, 020 7336 9492 or email Janice.firstname.lastname@example.org
