Board of Directors Opportunity
Social Enterprise Academy
Quarterly Board Meetings | Annual Board Meeting
The Social Enterprise Academy is a social enterprise, rooted in Scotland, which was started in 2004 by a group of like-minded folk who believed passionately that the emerging social enterprise model could change the world. In this they were not alone, but this group had in common a conviction that social entrepreneurship was at the heart of the burgeoning social enterprise sector, that leadership was the key to social entrepreneurship – and that leadership can be learned.
Since then the Academy has become the largest Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Centre in Scotland supporting around 1,000 people annually. All across Scotland we have supported them to develop their leadership and entrepreneurship skills . We have a passion to become world class so that we can deliver excellent learning and development opportunities across Scotland and beyond.
We have recently received investment to expand our business base outside of Scotland which has started with the creation of a Joint Venture business in South Africa. We are looking for able and inspiring individuals to help us build our business internationally whilst strengthening our Scottish base.
Another exciting area is the development of social entrepreneurship in schools. We have already worked with 400 schools across Scotland developing young peoples’ understanding of social enterprise and giving them hands-on experience.
Leadership and passion for making a difference is key for our Non-Executive Directors. Current members come from the private, public and third sectors and we are keen to enhance this diversity of experience and backgrounds. It’s a challenging and rewarding role and in fulfilling the requirements.
Directors should be able to commit, on average, 1/2 day per month in pursuit of our strategic objectives.
