Big Issue Invest Scotland

BIIS is a Joint Venture between DSL Business Finance based in Govan and Big issue Invest.

It provides loans and patient capital from £3,000 to £1.5 million for social enterprises, charities and employee owned businesses that deliver high social impact.

Sectors include education, training, health and social care, financial inclusion and community driven social, cultural and environmental initiatives.

Loans can be used for property/asset purchase, working capital and business expansion

Each organisation is unique and we recognise this by agreeing terms on an individual basis.

Typically the loan term is up to 10 years with fixed interest rate between 7% and 10% and an
arrangement fee of 1% to 2%.

Loans can be flexible and patient capital or equity like investment is available where more appropriate than debt.

BIIS will co-invest with other social investment providers and mainstream banks.

Local Energy Scotland

There is no restriction for areas of multiple deprivation for the CARES loan. It is repayable on financial close (not over 8-10 years as stated in text).  Renegotiation and repayment penalty reference are not required for text.

Programme of grant funding also includes:

Community Investment grants of up to £20K to allow communities to investigate options and risks of buying into commercial renewable energy developments

Infrastructure and Innovation fund  – up to £100K

The above amendments will be made in due course.
