A personal message from new Social Enterprise Scotland Chief Executive
“What a fantastic privilege to be offered the opportunity to head up Social Enterprise Scotland on a permanent basis. I’ve enjoyed the interim role enormously over the last few months, so it’s particularly pleasing to be offered the post full time.
“There are some real challenges facing social enterprise over the short, medium and longer term whether it be structural, financial or in policy terms. This cuts across a range of disciplines from welfare reform to youth employment and social care and there are, in equal amounts, huge opportunities arising on each of those fronts.
“My fervent hope is that we do not, as a society, view the most recent economic circumstances as some form of correction in the market and that we grasp this time as an opportunity to fundamentally change our behaviour and our public services. Also that we revisit our values in the way we do business and that social enterprise flourishes as a consequence.”
