The Ecology Centre, Kinghorn

The Ecology Centre in Kinghorn is a unique community organisation established eight years ago.  Previously known as Craigencalt Ecology Centre it has changed it's name and established a trading company in the past year.

The Ecology Centre provides an exceptionally well used resource, providing education, recreation, training and volunteering opportunities. The Centre caters for hundreds of school parties from throughout Scotland every year.

Out of the Wood is part of the newly formed trading company of The Ecology Centre which has been established to provide high quality, good value, individually designed wooden products, principally for external use.  The items produced are sustainable and attractive, and are ideally suited to public open spaces, play areas and school grounds.  The service also offers training opportunities to disadvantaged individuals who can be part of the team that installs the products and carries out site improvements.

Out of the Wood is already working with landscape architects, housing associations, the local authority and has secured a major contract with a developer .

In addition to designing and producing the above products the subsidiary is offering an advisory service on developing outdoor areas for play, learning, stress relief and nature.  Many organisations have already signed up to the service.  It is also now offering a plant service providing quality, locally grown wildflowers, native trees and sensory plants for inclusion in outdoor areas.
