Founded in 2000, yipworld is a youth organisation which supports young people in Cumnock and the surrounding area with their personal, social, academic and professional development.
Primarily, yipworld work with young people under 25 but support doesn’t end there and is available to any who would benefit from it.
Based in Cumnock, the yipworld centre has a wealth of resources including an all-weather artificial pitch, a commercial recording studio, an IT suite including Macs, PCs and games consoles, kitchen and dining area and a recreation room with pool tables and games.
Employability support is available at yipworld throughout the year, with a qualified careers advisor on hand to offer assistance with CVs and career paths, job searching, confidence building and help in finding work experience or volunteering positions. There are also regular opportunities for young people to volunteer and work with yipworld.
Youth groups run through the week with a drop-in for 11 to 18-year-olds open in Cumnock several nights a week and external groups in Logan, New Cumnock and the wider area.
An important part of yipworld’s engagement with young people is the delivery of Inspiring Scotland material in schools throughout Ayrshire through their programme managers. Focussing on employability, life skills and personal development, the aim of the course is to raise attainment through engaging and working together with young people aged 14 – 19.
Yipworld also run several Self-Esteem classes and work on a one-to-one basis with pupils who would benefit from a different approach.
An After School Club operates throughout term-time for local primary school pupils, offering a fun, activity-based programme which is supplemented by ‘Scunnered’ summer sessions which run daily when the holidays hit.
The programme at yipworld is constantly changing and evolving to include programmes such as life skills classes, sport-based courses and much more so there’s always something for everyone.
