Lintel Trust is an unendowed charitable trust which has been working with voluntary organisations and Scottish communities since 1979.
Formerly the Scottish Housing Associations Charitable Trust, Lintel Trust has a focus on the provision of small grants which help social housing and community-based projects.
The Trust provides financial packages for social enterprises, supplies grants for housing projects and offers a fund management service, all with an emphasis on promoting equal opportunities.
Keen to champion and promote equality and diversity, Lintel Trust aims to support projects that help those who are most disadvantaged in today’s social housing market. They fund housing and community projects focused on assisting ethnic minority groups, people with disabilities and homeless people.
They also look to support projects which enable older people to maintain their independence and have an interest in promoting social inclusion in communities.
Lintel Trust has a specific interest in social enterprises. It has established a Social Enterprise Programme which is tailored for SEs that have a link to a Scottish housing association or co-operative.
The programme offers interest free, repayable grants from £1000 to £10,000 with flexible terms of repayment available to suit each enterprise.
GSEN member Glasgow Wood Recycling was the first SEs to benefit from the programme, using the funding to tackle social exclusion by creating training and volunteering opportunities for the community.
Since 1979, Lintel Trust have given out over £1m in grants to thousands of housing-related projects across Scotland.
