Venturing Out CIC

Venturing Out CIC is an inclusive outdoor activities provider based in East Lothian, just 20 minutes east of Edinburgh.

Offering high quality, affordable activities to all ages and abilities, they have a particular focus on providing opportunities to members of the community who might otherwise be excluded from adventurous outdoor activities.

They work in partnership with East Lothian Council's Outdoor Learning Service and are currently piloting an Outdoor Learning Programme, aimed at raising attainment within East Lothian's primary schools.

From their base near Tranent, Venturing Out provide full-day activity packages, skills courses, children’s parties and group activity packages, catering for all skill levels.

Their exhaustive list of activities includes hill walking, rock climbing, canoeing, mountain biking, kayaking, paddle boarding and bushcraft.
Venturing Out reinvest all surplus profits into the development of their social aims, which are broken down into three core projects designed to “engage, inspire and empower” the local community.

Personal & Social Development Programme

This work is directly aimed at East Lothian's most vulnerable children who are likely to experience difficulty with moving between schools and making the transition from school to a work environment. Through this programme, Venturing Out work to build on self-confidence as well as boosting self-esteem and promoting social inclusion. This programme hopes to form part of East Lothian's Summer Activities Programme.

Inclusive Activity Provision East Lothian

Venturing Out believe that everyone, no matter what their ability, has much to gain from experiencing outdoor activities. One of their core aims is to offer regular provision of Adventurous Outdoor Activity within the county of East Lothian for our disabled community. This work is supported by ELC Outdoor Learning Service.

Raising Attainment Outdoors

Venturing Out recognise that not all children excel in a classroom environment. They are delivering a pilot project funded by ELC Area Partnerships aimed at raising the attainment of primary aged children through a range of outdoor activities and exercises.

This programme is being delivered in partnership with ELC Outdoor Learning Service.
