Job Role : We are looking for a storyteller to become a member of the core team at The Village who will:
„X Research, develop and deliver a diverse programme of storytelling activity
„X Lead on storytelling activity for children, young people and families
„X Devise and deliver storytelling training opportunities for young people and adults
„X Contribute to a programme of public events
„X Work in partnership with a wide range of agencies to develop and realise projects and programmes of work
„X Contribute to the development of storytelling and reminiscence work for older people
„X Monitor and evaluate activities and projects as appropriate
„X Support the creation of associated documentation and publicity materials

To succeed in this role we are looking for someone who has the following skills and experience:
Essential:
„X The applicant should be on the Scottish Storytelling Centre¡¦s register of storytellers or eligible for registration
„X Have a good understanding of the communities within Glasgow and the West of Scotland
„X Have a flexible, creative and enthusiastic approach
„X Have experience of working with children, young people and families
„X Have experience of engaging with ¡¥hard to reach¡¦ groups
„X Have experience of delivering reminiscence sessions
„X Have experience of delivering training and/or facilitation sessions
„X Have an interest in heritage and the environment
„X Have the ability to research and devise a range of events and programmes of activities
„X Be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with partner organisations, sessional staff and volunteers.
„X Be capable of working as part of a small team and be administratively self-sufficient
„X Have the ability to manage part-time, sessional staff and volunteers
„X Carry out other duties as may be ascribed to the post from time to time by the Village Storytelling Centre Director
„X Be committed to equal opportunities and social justice


Desirable:
„X The ability to monitor and evaluate projects
„X The ability to contribute to reports for funders
„X Holder of Driving Licence with access to a car


Organisation Profile : The Village Storytelling Centre has a strong presence in Glasgow with a particular focus in the South West. Since its establishment in 2000 we have worked with many thousands of people, supporting them to find a voice and to shape and share their stories. Storytelling is not only a hugely enjoyable experience for the audiences but here at the Village it is also a way of inspiring and supporting the growth and development of individuals and communities. We have a range of core services, using storytelling as a tool to support learning, employability, health and wellbeing, equalities and heritage/environmental work.
